about

The master tapes assembled by Chris for this then proposed release were transferred to a single stereo acetate paid for by Chris, by Apple Corps in London in 1974. Chris shipped his collection of first generation master tapes back to New Zealand with him in 1975, but these were sadly lost in a later domestic house fire in 1982. Some master tapes in various forms have survived in other ways, such as those used on his self-titled debut album. Chris left the acetate at the EMI Studios in Middlesex in England with a view to it being produced in to an LP for his second album, just prior to his hasty return home. The acetate remained at EMI for many years before being moved, reason unknown, to a well-known record shop in Soho, then on to a specialist record shop in London for a further twenty years or so. The artist was identified using Shazam, before the acetate was advertised as a ‘rather mysterious album thought to have connections to George Harrison’ for sale on eBay in March, 2018.

This long lost album is what was meant to have been Chris Thompson’s second album, available for the very first time in 2018 on limited edition LP, 12” EP, CD, plus collectors’ editions.

The full album includes three spoken poetic tracks, the band cover version of the Jagger-Richards song Dead Flowers, and as on the CD version, an interview with Chris on the making of the album.
